
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Two Shawnee County Sheriff's Deputies were injured during the pursuit of a wanted Kansas suspect.
Just after 7:30a.m. Wednesday, the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Warrants Unit were searching for an individual wanted on a felony warrant near SW 1st Street and NW Crane Terrace, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
When deputies located the suspect at a homeless encampment, the suspect fled into a nearby wooded area. Deputies utilized drones and ATVs to assist with the search. Responding deputies were involved in an ATV accident near I-70 and NW MacVicar Avenue.
Both deputies were transported to a local hospital, where they were receiving medical treatment.
Just after 11a.m. Roger D. Box Jr., 47, who was wanted on three active Shawnee County District Court warrants, was taken into custody following an extended search, according to Christian.
Box was wanted on one failure-to-appear warrant in a felony interference with law enforcement case and two arrest warrants on charges of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, criminal threat and criminal trespass.
