Kenneth W. Schremmer, 78, passed away November 26, 2020, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born April 12, 1942, at Hoisington, to Walter & Matilda (Zorn) Schremmer. He graduated from Odin High School in 1960. He was in the United States Army Reserves from 1960 to 1968. Kenny married Rosemary “Rosie” Demel, December 2, 1961, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin. She survives.
A lifetime Barton Co. resident, Kenny was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Hoisington, the Knights of Columbus, and American Legion. He was a manager and coach for the Hoisington Beavers fast pitch softball team. Kenny was a board member and secretary for Beaver Grain and a Barton County Commissioner for 11 years. Kenny also served on the board for the Southwest Developmental Services, Inc. Foundation. He was a lifetime farmer and formerly worked for Coast to Coast, Mid Continent LP Service, and Santa Fe Trucking. Kenny later owned and operated Sunflower Trucking Inc. and Schremmer Realty, Auction & Appraisers.
Survivors include; his wife of 59 years, Rosemary “Rosie” (Demel) Schremmer of the home; four children, Scharna Doll and husband Kevin of Great Bend, Kent Schremmer of Hoisington, Terry Schremmer of Hoisington, and Kurt Schremmer and wife Sheila of Great Bend; two sisters, Jan Frenzel and husband Keith of Great Bend, and Marilyn Stapleton of Greeley, Colo.; and nine grandchildren, Trever Schremmer, Kaylie Doll, Kelsie Doll, Colton Schremmer, Karisa Schremmer, Jaci Schremmer, Payton Doll, Shaylor Schremmer, and Alex Schremmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Eldon Schremmer.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with family to greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hoisington, with Father Bob Schremmer and Father Anselm Eke, MSP presiding. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Beaver, with Military Rites conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Memorials have been designated to Kans for Kids, American Diabetes Association and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
