Sheriff: Man who drowned at Kan. state lake was in a vehicle crash

MCPHERSON COUNTY —The victim found at Maxwell State Lake on Saturday has been identified as 61-year-old Randy B. Gepner of McPherson, according to the McPherson County Sheriff's office.

Preliminary investigations indicate Gepner was involved in a single vehicle accident that resulted in his vehicle entering the water. Gepner was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Initial cause of death has been listed as drowning, according to the sheriff's office.

MCPHERSON COUNTY— According to a social media post from the McPherson County Sheriff's office, Saturday morning, the Sheriff's Office responded to Maxwell State Lake for a report of a found body. The body is an adult white male and is a victim of apparent drowning.

Deputies are working to confirm the identity of the victim and notifying next of kin. Canton PD/Fire/EMS and Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks are assisting in the investigation.

The sheriff released no additional details.
