KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that sent a suspect to the hospital.
Just after 8p.m. Thursday, the Kansas City Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting the sound of shots fired in the 400 Block of Gladstone Boulevard, according to a statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
At least one caller reported seeing a man armed with a handgun. As officers arrived on scene, they encountered the man who was armed. At least one shot was fired by a KCPD officer and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of a minor hand injury. Officers recovered a handgun at the scene near the suspect.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of of Drug and Crime Control is in charge of the investigation of the officer shooting. The suspect remains in custody at an area hospital
