SALINA —Early Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at Sunflower Adult Day Services, just across the street from the Diocesan Chancery, according to a social media report from the Salina Diocese.
Many who heard about the fire and knew that Fr. Morgan lives above the facility have reached out to ask if he is okay. We are so grateful to share that, thanks be to God, he was able to get out safely. We are also incredibly grateful for the firefighters and first responders who responded and worked to keep everyone safe.
Please join us in praying for everyone affected by the fire, especially the staff, individuals, and families of Sunflower Adult Day Services.

Just after midnight Wednesday crews responded to a building fire at Sunflower Adult Day Services, 401 West Iron in Salina, according to a media release. First responders found significant fire showing from the first and second floors.
Crews immediately entered the building to conduct fire suppression and search operations, as the second floor also serves as residential living space.
The building’s only occupant escaped unharmed before fire crews arrived.
It took firefighters 15 to 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
Both floors of the building sustained fire damage, and significant smoke damage was present throughout the remainder of the building. Unfortunately, the damage has temporarily prevented Sunflower Adult Day Services from continuing its daily elderly respite services, creating a significant gap for community members who rely on those services.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation
