Hutchinson firefighters Brent Fisher, Travis Kerschner, Greg Lanker, and Calen Dunn who were sent out west were reassigned this week to the Dixie Fire in Northern California, as a rain storm contained many of the fires in the Stateline Complex.
The crew arrived in Susanville, CA and received their first assignment Thursday.
As of Friday night, the Dixie Fire is currently the largest fire in the US at over 750,000 acres and 47% contained. 92 Structures have been damaged, with 1,273 structures destroyed thus far. It has been active for 44 days.
Temperatures are forecasted to rise over the next few days. Critically low fuel moisture levels continue to cause difficulty in suppressing the fire spread.
