
FINNNEY COUNTY —A Kansas felon arrested July 19 in connection with a fatal shooting in Garden City has been charged for the crime.
According to the Finney County Attorney, 39-year-old Alfonso Fajardo was charged this week with murder in the second degree, aggravated intimidation of a witness/victim, unlawful to receive proceeds from racketeering and felon with a gun.
In March of 2021, police were dispatched to 1404 W. Fulton Street Apt. 4, in Garden City after report of a man shot in the head, according to Sgt. Lana Urteaga.
At the scene, police located 32-year-old Victor Cabrera. Finney County EMS transported him St. Catherine Hospital. He was later flown to Via Christi Hospital in Wichita where he died.
On July 19, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of N. 2nd Street in Garden City and arrested Fajardo in connection to the killing.
Fajardo is being held in on $750,000 bond, according to the district attorney's office. Fajardo has previous convictions for aggravated battery and aggravated burglary, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
