KANSAS CITY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that left seven without a place to live.

Just before 11:30a.m. Tuesday crews responded to the report of a house fire in the 3700 block of Garner Avenue in Kansas City, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

First responders found smoke and fire showing from the 2 and half story home.

During the search of the home crews were able to find and remove the occupant's family dog.  The dog was checked out on scene and appeared to be doing ok. Crews were able to get the fire under control at about noon.  Red Cross is assisting two adults and five children.
