KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a homicide and have identified the victim.
Just before 1:30 a.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a shooting at 7000 Eastwood Trafficway in Kansas City, according to Police Captain Corey Carlisle.
First responders located a man later identified as 31-year-old Stephen C. Carter, lying in the parking lot of the laundry mat suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers administered life saving measures until EMS arrived on scene. EMS pronounced Carter deceased on scene.
The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown. No one is in custody at this time. Police have no reason to believe there is an immediate risk to the public.
