Police: Kan. driver who struck bicyclist did not have driver's license

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities continue  investigating a suspect in connection with Sept. 24,  hit-and-run accident that left a bicyclist in critical condition.

Montez Glasgow, 30, Wichita, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, no valid driver’s license and fail to yield right of way on a left turn. The license crime is a misdemeanor, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Just before 7p.m. Sept. 24, police were dispatched to a hit-and-run involving a car and a bicyclist at the intersection of McCormick and Meridian, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

First responders located the bicyclist lying on the street with critical injuries. EMS transported the bicyclist to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. Police had no update on the victim Monday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect later identified as 30-year-old  Montrez Glasgow was driving west on McCormick and turned south onto Meridian striking the bicyclist. Glasgow left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.

While officers and detectives were on the scene investigating, Glasgow returned and was arrested. He is no longer in custody but is scheduled for a preliminary hearing  October 10, according to the district attorney's office.
