MCPHERSON COUNTY — U.S. 56 in McPherson County west of McPherson was closed until just before noon Wednesday, as a semi was in the ditch and the safest way to remove it was to close the road. There are no injuries from the accident.
According to a release from McPherson Fire, just after 3:30 a.m., firefighters were sent to Highway 56 and 10th Avenue in Conway for a hazmat incident. A tractor trailer was on its side on the south side of the road. there was no threat to the public.
Officers rerouted US 56 traffic westbound from 81 Bypass and Kansas in the city of McPherson, and eastbound from Plum Ave at US 56 on the McPherson-Rice County line until they got the trailer back upright.
Fire was released from the scene at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday.
