JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities and USD 458 officials are investigating after a student brought a firearm to Basehor-Linwood Middle School, 15900 Conley Road, Basehor, on Wednesday.
A student reported that another student had a weapon in a backpack, according to USD 458. The weapon was discovered during school hours and the district notified the Basehor Police.
USD 458 said the district's recovery procedure worked as it was designed and school staff immediately recovered the weapon.
“We can assure you that all students and staff remained safe throughout and after the recovery process."
“The presence of weapons in our school is not tolerated, according to a message to parents and guardians. "The student who brought the weapon will be disciplined, according to the student handbook." The School Resource Officer is in charge of investigation.
