Students in after school program involved in Kan. bus crash

BOURBON COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident involving a school bus taking students home from an after school program just before 5:30p.m. Thursday in Bourbon County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Andrew S. Callahan, 23, Fort Scott, was westbound on Maple Road at 145th Street one mile south of U.S. 54.

The car struck the side of a southbound USD 235 Uniontown school bus driven by 77-year-old Johnny K. Speer of Redfield as the bus entered the intersection.  

EMS treated Callahan at the scene for minor injuries.  Speer and multiple students who participate in the school district's after school program were on their way home, according to the district office. They were not injured.
