Kansas teen dies after pickup strikes electric scooter

MONTGOMERY COUNTY —A Kansas teen died in an accident just after 7:30a.m. Thursday in Montgomery County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported an electric scooter driven by Noah Edward Corish, 18, Independence, Kansas, was westbound on Chestnut Street at Pennsylvania Street in the city of Independence.

The teen failed to yield to a 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by Brent Alan Heuer, 39, Elk City, Kansas, who was turning northbound from Chestnut onto Pennsylvania. The pickup struck the electric scooter in the intersection.

  EMS transported Corish to Labette Health where was pronounced deceased just after 11a.m.  Heuer was not injured and properly restrained.  Corish was not wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.
