
LYON COUNTY —Law enforcement ar investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a high-speed chase.
Just after 9p.m. Oct. 22, the Kansas Highway Patrol asked police in Emporia to assist in locating a suspected intoxicated driver operating a white Chevy Tahoe with temporary tags, according to a media release from police. The vehicle was located at the Dollar General store at 1202 E. 12th Avenue, Emporia.
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop as the vehicle left the business, but the driver, later identified as 38-year-old Brandon E. Mangus, refused to comply. A pursuit ensued through the northeast and east-central areas of Emporia, continuing north on Highway 99 into Lyon County.
The pursuit was brought to a safe conclusion after the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating all four tires of the suspect’s vehicle. Mangus was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Lyon County Jail. He is being held on multiple requested charges including felony flee and elude, reckless driving, and driving while suspended.
