KANSAS CITY—A Kansas City, Missouri Police officer and two others were injured in an accident just before 11:30a.m. Monday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Preliminary investigation indicates a marked KCPD police Ford Explorer was operating with overhead emergency lights and audible sirens eastbound on Bannister Road, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.

The police vehicle slowed and proceeded into the intersection of Blue Ridge Bouleard when the driver of a black Chevrolet Traverse failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and struck the police vehicle on the passenger side.

The impact caused the police vehicle to roll over and slide into multiple vehicles stopped facing westbound on Bannister. The department member as well as two occupants of the Chevrolet were transported to area hospitals with what appear to be minor injuries.  The crash remains under investigation, according to DiMartino.  The name of the officer has not been released.
