One dead after 4-vehicle crash involving classic cars

KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before 9:30p.m. Friday in Caldwell County, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 17-year-old Kidder, Missouri girl was eastbound on Old U.S. 36 at Northwest Center Road five miles east of Cameron.

The Hyundai crossed the center of the road and struck the rear of a westbound 1931 Chevy 5 Window Coupe driven by a 58-year-old Cameron man and then struck a 1936 Chevy 2-door sedan driven by a 71-year-old Cameron man head-on.  After impact a westbound 1973 Chevy Nova driven by a 29-year-old Independence, Mo. man rear-ended the 1936 Sedan.

EMS transported the 71-year-old driver to Cameron Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. EMS transported a 58-year-old male passenger from the 1936  Chevy Sedan to Liberty Hospital. There were no other injuries reported. 

The 1936 Chevy Sedan did not have seat belts. The other drivers were properly restrained, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
