
CHASE COUNTY—Two people and a dog are safe after they were caught in flash flooding in Chase County.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Kansas Search and Rescue Task Forces 5 and 6 water teams were mission-assigned by Kansas Division of Emergency Management and the Kansas Fire Marshal to assist Chase County Emergency Management with a critical water rescue, according to a social media report.

Due to rising floodwaters, two residents and their dogs were unable to evacuate on their own. Thanks to the swift response from the water teams, all were safely brought to dry ground.

Task Force 5 and Task Force 6 had already been deployed in preparation for potential flooding-highlighting how vital proactive planning and training are during disasters. Their readiness made all the difference.
