JOHNSON COUNTY— Two people were injured in an accident Thursday in Johnson County.
Just after 5:00 p.m. near Maurer Road and Shawnee Mission Parkway, the Shawnee Police Department responded to a crash involving pedestrians, according to a media release.
One woman was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
According to an initial investigation, following a minor two-vehicle non-injury crash, both drivers exited their vehicles. As one driver tried to move one of the vehicles involved in the crash, he ran over the other driver, then fell out of the vehicle he was trying to move and was run over by the same vehicle.
Maurer Road over Shawnee Mission Parkway was closed until the investigation was completed. The crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Safety Unit. The Shawnee Fire Department and Johnson County MED-ACT also responded to the crash.
