SHAWNEE COUNTY —Two people were injured in a dog attack in Topeka.

Just after 12a.m. Friday, police responded to a disturbance involving a fight between individuals in the 2300 Block of SE Bellview Avenue in Topeka, according to a media release from Topeka Police.

The first officer on the scene observed two dogs attacking a woman. As the officer tried to help, the dogs became aggressive toward the officer.&nbsp; In response the officer shot and killed one of the dogs.&nbsp; Animal Control officers took the the second dog into custody. American Medical Response transported to woman to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Paramedics treated a second victim at the scene for minor injuries.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Police identified the owner of the dogs and they are cooperating with investigators. Police released no additional details.
