SUMNER COUNTY —Crews worked through the night at the site of a train derailment in rural Sumner County.
The railroad started moving train traffic through the area just before 7a.m. Friday, according to BNSF spokesperson Lena Kent, The total number of cars derailed has been revised to 16.
There were no injuries reported and no danger to the public. The cause is under investigation.

SUMNER COUNTY —Crews are busy working to open the rail line after a train derailment in rural Sumner County.
According to BNSF spokesperson Lena Kent, 17 cars carrying automobiles derailed seven miles west of Wellington, Kansas, just after 3:30p.m. Thursday.
There were no injuries reported and there is no danger to the public. The cause is under investigation. BNSF personnel are on site and working as quickly and safely as possible to clear the incident. It could take 24-36 hours.
A portion of Sumner Road is blocked which impacts a couple of homes and field entrances, according to Sumner County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Friday.

Just before 3:30p.m. Thursday 16 cars of a westbound BNSF freight train derailed just east of Wellington, according to Sumner County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Friday.
There were no hazardous materials and no injuries reported. Crews hope to have the main line open in the next 24-36 hours, according to Lt. Friday. A portion of Sumner Road is blocked which impacts a couple of homes and field entrances.
