KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Labor Day weekend homicide in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just after 3:30a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to 54th and Michigan on a reported shooting, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
As officers arrived they located an adult male and an adult female in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began rendering aid and KCFD Medics arrived simultaneously. The male victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The female victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. A short time later she was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
This is being investigated as a homicide. A subject of interest was taken into custody pending further investigation. Preliminary information revealed there was an interaction in the street between multiple individuals before shots were fired and the victims were struck.
