Woman run over while waiting for tow truck in Kansas City has died

KANSAS CITY —One person died in an accident just before 6p.m. Wednesday in a Kansas City residential neighborhood.

The driver of a Chevy Silverado was backing out of a residential driveway in the 2700 Block of Harrison Street, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez .

The driver did not see the woman behind the pickup. The vehicle struck and ran over her. EMS transported the woman to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, according to Gonzalez.

Prior to the collision, the woman was talking to a tow driver in regard to her vehicle breakdown. The driver of the Chevy was moving his truck so the tow driver could get to the broken-down vehicle. The driver of the Chevy truck was not injured.  Police have not released the name of the victim.
