LYON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating three suspects on multiple allegations after an investigation.
In January, police began investigating multiple cases involving narcotics, firearms, forgery, shoplifting, theft and identity theft, according to Police Captain Lisa Hayes.
On February 2, police took 27-yearold Deshawn Hammond and 33-year old Kayla Stokes both of Wichita, into custody. They are being held in the Lyon County Detention Center on requested charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. Stokes was booked on an additional requested charge of Forgery according to Hayes.
The investigation continued into Feb. 3, and led to the execution of a search warrant at 724 Wilson Street in Emporia.. The Emporia Police Department utilized their Special Response Team to execute the warrant.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Hwy Patrol also assisted. One person in the residence surrendered and cooperated. A second person in the residence, Alexander Rose, 34 of Wichita, barricaded himself and surrendered an hour later when a police K9 was to be deployed. Rose was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant through the Kansas Department of Corrections.
