Kansas woman dies after 3-vehicle crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY —One. person died in an accident just before 3:30p.m. Wednesday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by  Katelyn N. Heier, 21, Sedgwick ,was northbound on Interstate 135  just north of E 85th Street N in Wichita in the right lane in heavy traffic.

 The car rear-ended a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Matthew K. Pabst, 46, Bentonville, Arkansas.

The impact pushed the Honda into the median where it stopped.  The Toyota continued into the median, crossed into the southbound lanes, and struck 2018 Ford F450 driven by Fernando Rocha, 39, Wichita, head-on.

Heier was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center. Pabst and Rocha were not injured and passengers in their vehicles were not injured. Heier was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
