SEWARD COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident during a pursuit by law enforcement just before 9a.m. Saturday in Seward County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a Seward County Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop for damaged windshield on a 2009 Chevy Silverado driven by Yosimar Alarcon, 29, Dodge City.
The driver fled westbound on U.S. 54 at K Road almost striking a Liberal Police Department officer on the eastbound shoulder.
The pickup traveled into the east ditch to avoid the Liberal Police department vehicle.
Liberal Police threw stop sticks confirming a good stick. The driver then attempted to get back on U.S. 54 westbound but entered a side skid and crossed the highway to the west ditch and rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest upright facing southeast.
EMS transported Alarcon to Southwest Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
