KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a deadly shooting in Kansas City have identified the victim as 20-year-old Savannah R. Stipek, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte.
Just before 9:30p.m. Friday, police responded to Independence Avenue and Cleveland Avenue where they found Stipek and man with gunshot wounds.
First responders pronounced Stipek dead at the scene. EMS transported the man to a local hospital
While detectives were investigating, a third victim arrived at a fire station a short distance away reporting that he had been shot at the original Independence Avenue location. EMS transported him to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are working to determine what prompted the interaction between the man found at the scene of the shooting and an unknown suspect to escalate into gunfire.
Police have not released any information on a suspect or reported an arrest.
Detectives are searching for witnesses to the incident or any surveillance footage that may have captured it.
