SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities and fire crews worked together to save a person having a mental health crisis who went to the top of a business in Wichita.
On Monday, police were dispatched to respond to a situation in the 700 block of East Central in Wichita, according to a media release.
A concerned citizen had reported a person on the roof of a Wichita business. Patrol officers swiftly arrived at the scene, collaborating with the department's commissioned call center to pinpoint the person's location through video surveillance.
The police department's commitment to utilizing advanced technology ensures offices can respond effectively to such situations. Police also worked closely with the Wichita Fire Department to ensure the safe removal of the individual from the rooftop.
The fire department's assistance was invaluable, and police thanked them for their support. Following the successful resolution of the situation, the individual was transported to a nearby hospital for a mental health evaluation.
