Teen admits role in robbery, killing at Kansas business

JOHNSON COUNTY —A 19-year-old has admitted his role in the 2022 murder, robbery at a business in Shawnee, Kansas.

On January 17, Fernando Reyes-Lara pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery in the death of Jarod Rogers, according to the Johnson County District Attorney's office.

On Nov. 30, 2022, police made a welfare check on a business in Shawnee and found Rogers with a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital and died two days later.

Reyes-Lara is among five teens including Sabrina Clark, Kyleigh Guzman, Roger Hernandez and and Fernando Gonzalez-Prado accused in the killing. 

Sentencing for Reyes-Lara is scheduled for March 20, according to the district attorney.
