FRANKLIN COUNTY —Two people were injured and a dog killed in a pedestrian accident Tuesday in Ottawa.
Just before 7:30a.m. Tuesday, Ottawa Police Officers, along with the Ottawa Fire Department and Franklin County EMS, were dispatched to a report of pedestrians struck by a vehicle near the intersection of 11th Street and Cypress Street, according to a media release.
When officers arrived, they located two injured pedestrians and an injured canine. The vehicle and driver remained on scene.
The pedestrians were identified as a 45-year-old Ottawa woman and her 11-year-old daughter. The driver was identified as a 16-year-old Ottawa boy. The pedestrians were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and the canine was taken to a local veterinary office where it later passed away. The injured girl was later released from a local hospital.
Assistance was requested from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team to assist with the scene investigation. Ottawa Officers and detectives are continuing to investigate this incident.
The Ottawa Police Department reminds all drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution when in areas near schools or school bus routes.
