KBI: Remains found in search for missing Kansas man

MARSHALL COUNTY — KBI agents and deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office have located remains during the search for a missing Blue Rapids man.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies found human remains in rural Marshall County, according to a media release from the KBI.

The KBI Crime Scene Response Team responded to the area, which was northwest of Waterville, Kansas, near Sunflower Road and 2nd Road.

The remains are believed to be those of 36-year-old Camoran M. Shoptese.

Agents found evidence indicating that Shoptese was murdered. Investigators do not believed a threat to the community exists related to this case. On Saturday, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance in the disappearance of Shoptese who was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday at 709 Chestnut Street in Blue Rapids.

A person of interest connected to the homicide is in police custody on unrelated charges.Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME.  Click here to report anonymous tips.
