Kansas woman dies after crash blamed for slush on the road

GRAY COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 8a.m. Thursday in Gray County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Kia Sportage driven by Angela C Rodriguez, 59, Dodge City, was westbound on U.S. 56 one half mile northeast of Copeland.

The driver lost control due to slush on the roadway. An eastbound 2015 Chevy Suburban driven by Margaretha Wiebe, 32, Sublette, struck the passenger side of Kia in the eastbound lane. After impact, the Kia came rest in the south ditch. 

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Wiebe to St. Catherine's in Dodge City. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
