Suspect attempted to rob food delivery drivers in Manhattan

RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating  a suspect in connection with two recent incidents involving attempted robbery involving food delivery drivers in Manhattan.

Just before 10p.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man called the Riley County Police Department Communications Center to report he had been tackled by an unknown suspect while the victim was attempting to deliver food in the 1000 block of Quivira Circle in Manhattan, according to a media release from the RCPD. 

Officers immediately arrived in the area and began canvassing the scene and the suspect returned hours later. He fled from officers but was successfully apprehended in the 1800 block of Hunting Avenue without incident after a successful track by RCPD K9 Monster. 

Landen Bearce, 21, of Manhattan, was arrested on requested charges of attempted robbery and interference with law enforcement officers. 

On Monday, officers filed a report for attempted robbery in the 1800 block of Hunting Avenue when a 21-year-old victim reported an unknown suspect tried to forcefully take items from him while delivering food. 

Bearce remains jailed held on a $50,000 bond, according to the RCPD.
