Ellinwood will morph into an authentic German holiday village on Sunday, Dec 6, at the annual Christkindlmarket from 1 – 5 pm.

Vendors will be open from 1 – 4:30 pm in the Wolf Hotel and Gather on Main Street in Ellinwood. Many businesses will be open as well, so it’s a perfect time to begin or finish up holiday shopping.

Ellinwood Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jordan Waite says this year’s Christkindlmarket has a variety of activities for everyone in the family to enjoy.

“We’ll have the author of “Wolf’s Christmas” coming to town. The story is based on an Ellinwood resident that was very loved in the community. The kids can make gingerbread houses, and there will be a storytime at the library at 1 pm with our German St. Nicklaus. He will also be at Gather at 2 pm for pictures. There are tunnel tours from 1-3 pm and shopping downtown,” explains Waite.

The 8th Annual Christkindlmarket honors the German heritage and history of the town. Germans settled Ellinwood in the late 1800s. Attendees are asked to wear masks and to practice social distancing measures.
