Sheriff: Kansas man accused of DUI and transporting drugs

SHAWNEE COUNTY–Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after an arrest.

Just before 3:15 a.m. Dec. 6, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2001 Toyota Avalon near SW 21st Street and South Kansas Avenue, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, illegal narcotics were located. The driver, Kent A. Emperley, 45, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Driving under the influence of drugs, Possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant,  Possession of drug paraphernalia

Emperley also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for a probation violation through Shawnee County.
