SHAWNEE COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 11:30a.m. Friday in Shawnee County.

According to Shawnee County Deputy Abigail Christian, a&nbsp;trash truck was northbound on SW Auburn Road when a westbound white SUV driven by 77-year-old&nbsp;Carol M. Purcell pulled onto the roadway. The trash truck and the SUV collided.

Purcell and a passenger of the SUV were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Purcell later died. The driver of the trash truck sustained minor injuries.&nbsp; The sheriff's office did not have details on where Purcell lived.

SW Auburn Road was temporarily closed at SW 21st Street during the investigation.
