KANSAS CITY —Authorities are working to determine the cause of an apartment building fire in Kansas City.
Just before 12:30a.m. Monday, crews responded to the report of an apartment fire in the 2600 block of East 8th street in Kansas City, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.
First responders found heavy fire and smoke from the rear of a three-story 12 unit apartment building.
Crews removed multiple occupants from the structure during their searches. Fire crews treated three patients on the scene for smoke inhalation. Two of those patients refused transport, one patient was transported for further evaluation in serious but stable condition.
No firefighter injuries were reported at this incident. Only six of the twelve units were occupied, all six will be displaced.
