SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting that injured a man and teen.
Just after 3:30a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to a shooting call at the 9500 block of East Champions Street in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.
First responders located a 42-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body and the 18-year-old victim with gunshot wounds to his torso and left forearm.
EMS transported both victims to a local hospital in serious condition but with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were reported in stable condition Thursday evening, according to Rebolledo.
The investigation revealed that the victims got into a verbal argument outside the residence and at one point during the incident, both victims produced handguns and started to shoot at each other.
The investigators are still working to fully determine what led up to the shooting. Police released no names or additional details.
