There was no high school baseball played in Kansas this past spring because of COVID-19, but that did not stop the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) from wanting to host a state tournament in Great Bend in the future.
KSHSAA extended a letter of agreement to the Great Bend Recreation Commission to host the Class 2-1A State Baseball Tournament in 2021.
Great Bend Rec Executive Director Diann Henderson was excited to host the
tournament with the help of the City of Great Bend and USD 428.
"We will follow our normal processes in preparing for the tournament," said Henderson. "We appreciate our local businesses that have supported us with this event in the past."
The dates for the tournament at the Great Bend Sports Complex are scheduled for
May 27-28, 2021.
"We try to make it very memorable for those small communities that come to Great Bend," added Henderson.
Great Bend has hosted the past six 2-1A State Baseball Championships.
