From United Way of Central Kansas...

Though it is hard to believe with everything going on, it really is true that some things never change. One of those things is that United Way of Central Kansas Community Partners still need help.

This annual event of "Stuff the Bus" will take place in both Great Bend and Hoisington on Wednesday, July 22 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Volunteers will brave the heat to hand out flyers and collect items at Walmart and both Dillons locations in Great Bend and Town and Country Supermarket and Dollar General in Hoisington.

In years past, over 1,000 items are donated to distribute among United Way Community Partners and schools.

The lists of supplies include a wide range of items including school supplies, toiletries, cleaning supplies, items for babies and children, and non-perishable food items. School supplies will be used for local backpack programs and also be donated to schools for their supply closets.

New this year, Chris Boys of Chris Boys American Family Insurance Agency will help volunteers hand out cold bottled water to patrons for their donations.

“This is a great impact project for our Business Partners, to collect items at their place of business for our Agencies and Schools. We will be happy to pick up the donated items or they can very easily bring them to one of the drop off locations for a great photo op," said Gaila Demel, Executive Director, United Way of Central Kansas.

Donations can be made in advance by dropping them off at the UWCK office (1125 Williams, Great Bend). Cash and/or gift cards are always welcome to divide among the Community Partners for unmet needs for clients or other unexpected expenditures.
