Great Bend City Manager Kendall Francis says the 10th Street repaving project in Great Bend is being completed as quickly as possible despite delays caused by extremely cold temperatures in February.

The Harrison Street to Patton Road section has been completed, and Francis says crews have been working on the east side of town around Frey Street to finish some base patching there.

Right now, most of the work is being done on the Main Street to Washington Street corridor.

During KVGB's City Edition this past Wednesday, Francis explained why that section of highway needs special attention.

"That's where the bulk of the base patching will need to take place," Francis said. "We identified that corridor right there as having significant issues with the basing. That has lead to the deterioration of the road. We want to try to address that as best we can so that this new overlay is going to last significantly longer."

Francis said the next major paving project in Great Bend is expected to start a little more than a year from now on Broadway Avenue.
