Arrest made: Boy critically injured after shooting in Salina

EDITORS NOTE: In the interest of clarification and accuracy the Salina Police Department corrected earlier information provided regarding the location of the shooting incident. The incident occurred at a private single family residence located within the 100 block of Raleigh Street and was not associated with the Southwind Apartments complex in any way. The Police Department apologizes for any confusion or concern which arose from the previous information.

SALINE COUNTY —Police have made an arrest after a 14 year-old boy was shot on Friday evening in Salina.

 A 15 year-old male acquaintance of the victim was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center in Geary County on requested charges of Aggravated Battery and Criminal use of a Weapon, according to a statement from Salina Police.

Just after 9:30p.m. Friday, Salina Police Communications received a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Raleigh Street in south Salina, according to a media release.

Officers responded and located a boy with a single gunshot wound. EMS transported the boy to the Salina Regional Health Center where he was listed in critical condition. The boy was later transported to a Wichita hospital.

SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement in Salina are investigating a shooting in Salina that injured a juvenile.

Just after 9:30p.m. Friday, Salina Police Communications received a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Raleigh Street in south Salina, according to a media release.

Officers responded and located a boy with a single gunshot wound. EMS transported the boy to the Salina Regional Health Center where he remained in critical condition.

All individuals of interest with the incident have been identified. Police released no additional details and have not reported an arrest.
