SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple drug allegations after a traffic stop.
Just before 11:30pm Dec. 7, a deputy sheriff conducted a traffic stop in the 2700 block of SE Maryland Avenue on a black 2023 Nissan Sentra that was connected to a Drug Enforcement Unit search warrant, according to Deputy Shayna Anderson.
During the investigation, the deputy found illegal narcotics and arrested the driver 39-year-old Damario D. Brooks of Topeka. He is being held on requested charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and driving a vehicle without a valid license.
The passenger, Amaya J. Colpitts, 18, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County DOC on a misdemeanor traffic warrant through Shawnee County.
