Kansas sheriff's supervisor accused of DUI

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating one of their own after a weekend arrest.

On January 28, Maize Police arrested a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office supervisor for a misdemeanor traffic offenses including driving under the influence, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's office.

Lieutenant Richard Gerdsen, 42, was operating his personally owned vehicle while off duty when the incident occurred. Lt. Gerdsen has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for 17 years.

Lt. Gerdsen has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
