WOODSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities and USD 366 officials investigating an alleged school threat have made arrests.
On March 6, the Woodson County Sheriff's office was alerted of an alleged threat directed toward Yates Center High School, 105 West Bell Street, in Yates Center, according to a media release from Yates Center Police Michael Strode. The school district cancelled all class and activities the following day.
Over the past week, Yates Center Police and the Woodson County Sheriff's office investigated the crime and were able to identify persons responsible and secure arrests warrants for the individual from Missouri.
The charges filed include terrorist and aggravated criminal threat. On Wednesday, law enforcement in Lees Summit with the help of license plate reader technology took all three suspects into custody. They are awaiting an appearance before a judge for them to waive extradition to Kansas.
