The Barton County Health Department has three more drive-thru flu vaccine clinics scheduled over the next week. The next one starts Friday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Health Department’s parking lot at 1300 Kansas.

Barton County Public Health Educator Katelyn Sigler says people can enjoy the convenience of staying in their cars and no appointment is necessary.

"Getting your flu vaccine is recommended every year, but this year with COVID-19, it is even more important," said Sigler. "Studies show that if you receive the flu vaccine, it can reduce your chance of getting the flu by up to 60%."

The Health Department can submit the cost to your insurance or there is a self-pay option. Forms can be printed out ahead of time to speed up the process. The forms can be found on the Health Department page at bartoncounty.org.

"This is not only about ourselves," added Sigler. "Getting the flu vaccine may help protect the people around you."

Along with Friday's flu vaccine clinic, the Health Department will hold drive-thru sessions next Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and then next Thursday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
