$25,000 damage after Kansas business fire

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire at a business in Topeka.

Just before 7:30p.m. Wednesday, crews responded to a fire at Dandy Deals, 1801 S Kansas Avenue in Topeka, according to spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

First responders found smoke and flames coming from the building and were able to extinguish the fire.

An investigation has not determined the cause of the fire. The estimated loss from the fire was approximately $25,000, with $15,000 associated with structural loss and $10,000 associated with content loss. There were no occupants in the build and no injuries reported.

The business did not have working smoke detectors, according to Nichols.
