HAYS, Kan. - FHSU’s Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship will host its first annual RCOBE Experience: Business Student for the Day on campus on April 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event, for high school Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, will give students a chance at scholarships plus the opportunity to explore the four departments of RCOBE: Economics, Finance, and Accounting; Applied Business Studies; Informatics; and Management.
Jessalyn Kirchoff, RCOBE graduate assistant, is organizing the event with the hope that students will get a good picture of life as an RCOBE student. The day will include campus tours, connecting with students and faculty, and an introduction to RCOBE’s programs, clubs, and organizations.
Jessalyn, a native of Smith Center in her first year of graduate school at FHSU, anticipates that prospective students will get a sense of FHSU’s culture during the event.
“FHSU feels like my home now,” she said. “I want the high schoolers to feel as much a part of the potential future Tiger family as they can.”
“I really want to create that connection for them because Fort Hays has brought so many opportunities for me. I want to extend that to as many people as possible, particularly small-town Kansans who might not have been exposed to campus life before.”
FHSU Director of Admissions Jon Armstrong said similar “college day” events have been successful in the past.
“We know how busy students and parents can be,” he said. “We want students to ‘see themselves here’ at FHSU, and by offering these days, we give all students an opportunity to see our dedication and commitment to their educational opportunities.”
