Dodge City jumped to an early lead and then held off a late Great Bend rally to beat the Panthers 7-4 Friday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.

The Red Demons scored a run in the first and eventually built the lead to 6-1 before the Panthers scored two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to draw a bit closer.

Sage Koelch, Joeseph Moeder, Stefan Spray and Chayse Gruber all had rbi’s for Great Bend who managed just 5-hits in the single 7-inning affair.

The loss dropped the Panthers to 6-7 on the season while Dodge City improved to 11-4.

Great Bend returns to action Monday at home when they host Hutchinson in a game that was suspended back in March with the Salt Hawks leading 5-0 with the Panthers coming to bat in the bottom of the first inning.
