Preliminary hearing for Kan. man in murder of his wife

SEDGWICK COUNTY— A Kansas man charged with murder after his 25-year-old wife Ivy Unruh died from injuries she suffered in a shooting at an apartment complex in Wichita is due back.

Joshua Orlando, 29,  is scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing in the courtroom of Judge Jeffrey Goering, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

On April 22, Orlando was charged with premeditated first-degree murder.

Just after 8 a.m. April 17, police were dispatched to a reported shooting at 7272 E. 37th Street in Wichita, according to a media release. When officers arrived, they found Ivy Unruh near Building 5 with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers also recovered a firearm at the scene.

Unruh was taken to a local hospital in grave condition and died three days later.

Joshua Orlando, who was married to but separated from Unruh, was taken into custody at the scene. He was transported to the Wichita Police Investigations Bureau for an interview and later booked into the Sedgwick County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $1,500,000.00, according to online jail records.
